Rule of Three is a classical ensemble formed of NYC-based musicians and Yale University alumni Chelsea Lane (harp), Ginevra Petrucci (flute), and Colin Brookes (viola). The trio takes its name from the timeless artistic principle that elements grouped in threes create harmony, balance, and a sense of completeness. With harp, viola, and flute—three contrasting voices blending into one—the ensemble embodies this rule in sound, weaving textures that are at once delicate, dynamic, and whole. Rule of Three curates programs that combine storytelling with compelling thematic arcs, performing not only core repertoire but also championing contemporary works and collaborating with composers to create new music for the trio.
